Back in the 80s, my parents had a house built in Florida. I went to high school my last couple years there. Let me say I can't stand a bully. There was a white girl that became friends with and I didn't realize it, but she was getting bullied. I happened to walk up on it 1 day, and I asked what was going on. The answer was BS. I could see clearly that the person bullying her was just doing that because they could get away with it, they knew she wouldn't fight back. So I stepped in front of her and I said, don't hit her again or you have to go through me. She looked me up-and-down sizing me up. I got in position. the bully didn't know my father was military and also a boxer. He raised me like a boy. I was ready. I waited. . I wanted her to hit me first so I could say not only was she bullying my friend, but she hit me as well. then, she pushed me and got ready to hit me and I hit her square in the chin and knocked her out. Of course, there were witnesses who collaborated my story, so I didn't get in trouble. Not all people stand there and do nothing.

they should give harsher punishments to bullies teach them a lesson plus the people cheering them on should get done too .if the bullies are too young then charge the parents ...

It depends logically- you should always defend yourself if it is safe to do so. But in situations where people may have weapons or large groups of people to back them up you should take caution.
