As a professional that has installed hundreds of those thermostats, the first thing you need to do is turn off the ecobee plus mode, second thing change a setting to hold temperature until you change it.

When I lived in Xi’An, China in ‘08 and temps were above 40C (104+) , there were rolling blackouts due to energy usage. Smart thermostats can actually help a grid stay active—better to have some A/C than a 4-5h blackout 😭
