Oom arrived at school late, just like she used to before Bam ever entered her life. She walked down the crowded, sunlit hallway wearing dark designer sunglasses, shielding her swollen, tired eyes from the world. Paired with her confident stride, her effortlessly sharp posture, and the cool distance radiating from her, she looked entirely like her old self, the handsome, charming womanizer everyone used to whisper about and admire from afar. As she entered the literature classroom, Hera and Athena immediately whistled low from their seats. "Look who decided to join us! Walking in like a movie star as usual," Hera teased with a grin. Athena chuckled, shaking her head. "Nice sunglasses, Eisaya. Indoor lighting too bright for royalty?" Oom offered them a polite, effortless smirk, teasing back softly, "You know it, girls. Someone’s gotta keep the glamour standards up in this class." Despite the light exchange, the playful mood among their group didn't last. Athena, Hera, Miu, and Lena all exchanged quiet, deeply concerned glances. They knew both Oom and Bam too well to miss the heavy, suffocating cloud hanging over both of them. Lena squeezed Miu’s hand under the desk, her brow furrowed with deep worry for both of their friends, while Hera and Athena looked between Bam and Oom, their hearts breaking as they saw the heavy, shared pain weighing on both girls equally. Oom walked past without disturbing anyone, heading toward her original desk near the window. Bam was sitting in her own original seat nearby, her body turning slightly as Oom approached. Bam, who was already quietly falling in love with Oom without fully realizing the depth of her own heart, stared up at her, her chest aching with a desperate wish to reach out, to touch her hand, to fix the fragile rift between them. As Oom walked past Bam's desk, her eyes remained fixed directly on Bam's, hidden safely behind her dark lenses. She paused just for a second and offered Bam a soft, tender, and deeply polite smile, no matter how much she was hurting. Good thing she was wearing her glasses, so Bam couldn't see the devastating ache swimming in her eyes. Giving Bam a gentle, quiet nod, Oom moved past her and took her seat near the window. Ms. Erin tapped her chalk against the board, looking over at Oom. "Ms. Eisaya, I appreciate the fashion statement, but please remove your sunglasses during class." "I apologize, Ms. Erin," Oom replied smoothly and respectfully, giving a small, apologetic bow of her head. "I actually have a bit of an eye infection today. I'll head down to the infirmary right after class, if that's alright." Ms. Erin softened, nodding politely. "Ah, I see. Very well, just make sure to get it checked." Turning back to the room, Ms. Erin clapped her hands together warmly. "Alright, everyone, welcome to today's open discussion before we begin our group literature presentations! To get us into the thematic mood of our romantic tragedy unit, I want to kick off with a question, What's the worst about love? Loving someone you can't have, or loving someone who can't love you back?" Oom rolled her eyes behind her dark sunglasses, letting out a soft, bitter breath. "Are you fucking kidding me?" she whispered to herself under her breath, turning her head to look out the window. "Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts," Ms. Erin added, gesturing to the room. "Loving someone you can't have," a student near the middle offered first. "Because the universe itself is keeping you apart, no matter how hard you fight." "I think loving someone who can't love you back is worse," Athena shared thoughtfully. "Because they're right there, within reach, but their heart just isn't yours." #oomeisaya #bamsaralee #oombam
