Thank you!! This anti-intellectual movement is alarming. My life would look totally different if I had not gone to college.

Many black women have children and they still go to college. It can be done if you have good time management.

The best route currently is trade school and use that to fund a college degree

Great advice for a decade ago. They may not be able to take your education but they can definitely decide not to pay you enough to pay back those loans. Id never say a degree isn’t important but it’s not the only answer and we need to see that

Exactly, Black boys/men do NOT have the same support, resources or guidance as Black women. Going to college for a Black boy especially a HBCU will Awaken him mentally, physically and depends on who he hang with spiritually. It will definitely give them more a clear vision on who they are and where they want to go‼️

I had my only child at 17. I got a trade but no college degree. And now I’m 39 and my son is 21 . I own a very successful business that gives me financial freedom. Maybe I’m an exception to the rule but I wanted to encourage anyone who this may be to late for that you can do it. There is not only one way to financial freedom. You just have to be focused and dedicated.

Iont know friend, I got a bachelors & a masters & im working at Amazon atm. Can’t find a job in my field. This made sense back in the day. Now the only relevant degrees are engineering, medical, law, & tech…..

A lot of y’all are discounting the value of the networks that can be gained at college. It’s more than just the degree. It’s being in community with other people who will also be in the workforce at the degreed level usually upper management those networks are valuable. You should absolutely be getting a degree in a field that you want to work in first and foremost, but also that has a decent rate of pay but also who you meet at college can shift the trajectory of your life

Y’all real loud about college but too quiet on not having kids too early. Too many of our young people are becoming parents before their own brains have fully developed. 😩💯

Both of my children attended college. My son has his degree. My daughter is currently in her sophomore year in college. However, I wish my son had went to get a trade straight out of high school because he has had a hard time finding a good job with his degree so degrees don’t always mean good jobs with good pay.
