47 years old and have bought my fair share of couches and I have NEVER seen them put the cushions underneath. It’s cool, but you’re not failing because you didn’t know that. I like mustard or brown with green.. like olive.. but there are no rules. Get what makes you happiest.

I would move the rug and I always like green and burnt orange together, but it totally depends on what other accessories and colours you’re going for in the rest of the space.

Burnt orange and cream pillows would be great! Like cream as in one shade lighter than your rug. And burnt orange as in a color that’s like half brown and half orange that’s slightly reddish. And for a texture, look for things very different to the sofa! Maybe really fluffy for the cream and really smooth for the orange.
