I saw right through this as soon as it came out. I’m sure it has nothing to do with models I can run on my laptop for free that are as good as Anthropic’s frontier model from 4 months ago. And I’m sure it has nothing to do with 30% of enterprise customers moving from open ai & Anthropic to open weight models because the token cost is literally 1/50th of the closed weight labs. Anyone actually in the space knows exactly what’s happening here.

It’s always interesting how many AI doomsday predictions come from people who were earning enormous salaries building AI, but discover that predicting the end of civilization is an even better media strategy. Now we have a 24-year-old former Anthropic employee who worked there for only six weeks, with an X account barely a month old, suddenly everywhere warning us AI could destroy humanity. Amazing how quickly the media can manufacture an “expert.” 🤔
