My Sgt. picked arbitrary dates to ding my attendance. Instead of Jan through end of December, physical year, or July through June fiscal year, or even August 20th through August 19, my hire dates... they chose April through March to get as many call offs as possible. Each one was excused, 4 days for bereavement when my mom passed and 3 days when my kid was in the hospital. 7 days, would have reflected as 4 at most had they followed any standard dates they used for others. not one "sick" day. did that just to ding me so I wouldnt get a perfect score. (6 or less in a year) so now, I abuse the absolute shit out of my leave. max out annual and sick every year. I no longer do extra.
