If we wrote a book listing everything that could potentially cause cancer, we’d probably spend the rest of our lives living in fear. The truth is, cancer doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t care who you are, how kind you are, or how healthy you try to be. Sometimes even the strongest, sweetest people become victims of this horrible disease. As a Stage IV cancer survivor, here are a few things I’ve learned that I wish I had known or taken more seriously before my diagnosis: 1. Get vaccinated against HPV. HPV is linked to several types of cancer, and vaccination is one of the best ways to help reduce your risk of HPV-related cancers. 2. Don’t skip your routine doctor’s appointments. Stay on top of your annual wellness exams, screenings, and preventive care. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait to get it checked. Early detection can save lives. Your job can replace you, but your family can never replace you. Take care of yourself first. 3. Know your numbers. Regular blood work can help identify vitamin deficiencies, abnormal blood counts, or other health concerns that deserve attention. While blood tests don’t diagnose most cancers, they can sometimes uncover issues that warrant further evaluation. 4. What you put into your body matters. A nutritious, balanced diet supports your overall health, your immune system, and your body’s ability to recover from illness. 5. Take care of your oral health. Your mouth is a gateway to your overall health, and maintaining good oral hygiene can help prevent infections and other health complications. 6. Protect your mental health. In my opinion, this is one of the most overlooked aspects of our health. Chronic stress can affect your body in many ways, so finding healthy ways to manage it is just as important as taking care of your physical health. You can take my advice or leave it, that’s completely up to you. But I’ll continue using my platform to educate, encourage, and hopefully help someone avoid what I went through. If sharing my journey inspires even one person to schedule that appointment, advocate for themselves, or prioritize their health, then it’s worth it. Thank you for listening.🤍 #cancertok #fyp #cancerawareness #foryoupage #cancersucks
