Can you imagine being a kid, trying to learn to read but only being taught half the sounds? They need to know sounds like sh and ch, voiced th and unvoiced th, and vowel sounds like the oo in book and the oo in boom. The book I’m reading is “Mentava’s Alphabet Sounds”, which is available as a free download at the link in my bio.
