@devinedwelling: 3½ years of choosing her. It started in my kitchen, filming myself making better choices for my life. I had a very clear vision of the woman I wanted to become — how she lived, how she felt, how she took care of herself — but I had absolutely no idea how I was going to get there. So I started small. I quit drinking. I quit drugs. I focused on my mental health, my brain health and eventually my gut health. I started looking at food as medicine and movement as medicine. I experimented, learned, messed up, started again and kept putting one foot in front of the other. There was a lot of trial and error. There still is. But every choice became a vote for the woman I had envisioned. I prayed. I asked for guidance. I believed something better was possible for me. And most importantly, I finally started believing in myself. There was never one diet, one workout or one magic thing that changed me. It was thousands of small decisions made consistently over 3½ years. You don’t have to know exactly how you’re going to get there. You just have to decide who you want to become and take the next step.
