I’m AA and I have a different take on this. I think Africans are too hard on themselves about this. Things will improve once the elders die. They were born under colonization or right after it so many of them will still have colonized minds. The current president of Nigeria was literally born under the British Protectorate of Nigeria. We must be for real. After AAs were emancipated many of us didn’t know what to do after enslavement and some even stayed on the plantation becoming sharecroppers which is sorta kinda the same boat that Africans are in. It just takes time. Ibrahim Traore was born in 88 or so. He’s further removed from colonization so he’s going to move different. Thank the Gods.

They did the same exact thing with us in America after slavery. Neo slavery was the birth of incarceration, slave labor via workforce, Jim Crow, etc. we went from independence from chattel slavery back to a different variant of slavery.

Presently, Burkina Faso is the only truly independent black African nation. ALL of the others are just vassal nations to outside interests (Western, Middle and Eastern). That it that's all, just Burkina.

I was just thinking about this after seeing certain Black politicians in America choose to discuss Chris Brown rather than speak about Black people being found hanged. This video genuinely made me emotional because, wow, Black people across the world are really suffering through so much of this together. No matter where we are, so much of our pain is interconnected.
