@stillrendered: A black bear broke into a 17-year-old girl's bedroom at a condo on Escalante Drive in Durango, Colorado, early Sunday, tearing off the window screen and climbing through a partially open window while pulling down a curtain. The teen woke up and hid under her blankets as the bear sniffed around her head and shoulders; when she made a noise, it huffed and swiped at her, scratching her stomach. She screamed and sat up, and the bear briefly retreated out the window before climbing back in a second time. Only after she stood up screaming again did the bear leave for good. Colorado Parks and Wildlife said the girl was fortunate to have multiple blankets covering her, crediting them with limiting her injuries to three self-treated scratches and bruising. Officials have set a trap to capture the bear, citing its demonstrated aggression, and note the incident is part of a record year for bear-human conflicts in Colorado.
