fiddling around with the Lansky Deluxe 4 -Stone Diamond Guided sharpening kit. This kit was released earlier this year and is an upgrade from their very popular sharpening kit, the upgrade being diamond stones. I enjoy diamond stones because they require a little less maintenance and you can get away without oiling them. I prefer anything for convenience! I also thought it was neat that the kid included a little brush you could use to clean the stones, something you’ll want to do every once in a while as steel can get compacted between the stone grain. I like the ultra portability of the system, all of it fits into a small box and your hand acts as the chassis, which removes the needs to store a physical chassis. The stones are on the smaller size so this would be ideal for pocket knives and smaller fixed blades. I rolled the edge a bit more than anticipated and it took 25 passes on each stone to get it sharp again, lesson learned 🥴 I was disappointed to see that one of the adjustment screws did not fit and will be emailing Lansky about this. It’s a quality control issue that I’m sure they’ll want to know about. I also wish the rods that attach to the honing stones were a bit thicker and sturdier. Another persnickety detail I disliked was the packaging because it was really hard to get out of the plastic. Other than that, this is a decent diamond stones guided honing system that you can get for under $100 at places like Walmart. It includes 4 grits (extra coarse, coarse, medium, and fine) and gives you the ability to sharpen at four different angles. It’s a very simple but clever design, and you can do it while standing (though not sure if this is the best way ha). Product: Lansky Deluxe 4-Stone Diamond Sharpening System, X-Coarse, Fine Grit Hone $82 - $100
