MEN ARE NOT ROBOTS: Who Does a Man Talk to When He’s Not Okay? We teach boys very early what we expect from them. Don’t cry. Toughen up. Be a man. Protect your sisters. Handle it. Figure it out. Don’t be soft. And then one day that little boy becomes a grown man, carrying disappointment, pressure, rejection, financial stress, grief, heartbreak, fear and responsibilities he may never have learned how to put into words. Then we ask, “Why doesn’t he talk?” But did we ever teach him that he was allowed to? Men are not robots. They need reassurance. They need safe relationships. They need somewhere to put their fear. They need to be able to say, “I am struggling,” without immediately feeling that their masculinity has been questioned. And Speaking up does not make you less of a man. Vulnerability does not automatically mean weakness. Sometimes it takes enormous strength for a man who has spent his whole life being told to hold everything together to finally admit, “I am not okay.” And to the mothers raising sons: please think about this. Sometimes we comfort our daughters and toughen our sons. We ask our daughters what happened, but tell our sons to stop crying. We protect the girl's emotional world while preparing the boy to survive his. Then we wonder why some grown men struggle to identify what they feel, communicate when they are overwhelmed, ask for help, or allow someone close enough to see that they are hurting. Your son will need resilience. Absolutely. But resilience is not the absence of emotion. Raise him to be responsible, disciplined and strong, but also raise him to know that being human does not disqualify him from being a man. Because behind the husband, father, provider, protector, boss, brother and “strong one”... there is still a human being. And sometimes he needs someone to ask: “How are you really doing?” #mensmentalhealth #mensmentalhealthmatters #fyp #masculinity #viral
