I've had Mason blocked for a few years now, he made a video declaring his intent to play hogwarts legacy, and when his comments called him out on doing that while simultaneously claiming to be an ally to trans people, he made a follow up video that was essentially "I hear you guys, I'm sorry you feel that way but I'm doing it anyway because nostalgia.". I do recall his videos occasionally having sexual jokes like what you've mentioned though and with some hindsight yeah that feels really uncomfortable with underage characters. Like yes teenagers make sex jokes all the time but as adults in a fandom about underage characters I don't think we should be making those jokes, leave the teenagers to make sexual jokes about teenage characters if they want but I think adults doing that is something they should maybe reflect on because at some point you do have to realize you are not in the same age group as those characters anymore and should be behaving as such.

probably ~5 years ago, mason did a series on pjo characters' kinks, and in response to other pjo creators says "hey, this isn't safe for children, it's representing an adult community," he was like "well i'm a minor too so it's fine"

I feel like people have forgotten that we’re guests. As adults in the fan base of a children’s franchise, WE’RE the outliers here. This series is, before all else, made for children. And you can still enjoy them as an adult (I do too), but we’re under an obligation to cater to the intended audience. We shouldn’t be making sexual shit about this series. We can’t muscle kids out of their own spaces, when there’s so few spaces intended for them. This is why most people my age got scarred when we searched My Little Pony or Minecraft on YouTube. Do you guys wanna be like the people who made those videos? Because I don’t.

I like both you and mason. Yes, I can 100% understand your take. I don't remember that skit but it would make me stop for a moment too. But I also think Jokes are a person-to-person difference. again, I 100% agree with you. As far as the content goes that I've seen, and the time, I don't think mason would do that kind of jokes anymore. He gets excited and fun, and that may be to much for other people, but I don't remember him crossing a line in the last years.

yeah, I've always felt weird about Mason's stuff. I didn't even know about the sexual stuff, he just gives me a weird vibe with how much he insists the show is perfect and Rick is the best author ever. they're both great, but there're definitely issues that he should be able to hear without getting defensive.

i dont really enjoy interacting with pjo content on tiktok so i just scroll (i found him so annoying) but i blocked that guy when he came on my feed saying that the confederates had to be a part of season 2 bc it would be so #girlboss to have two black women boss them around, and not stopping to consider the implications of that. he deleted the video once he got hate for it days later but he never like acknowledged it or anything. when i found it there was no one disagreeing in the comments and i felt insane.

Yeah, I think that makes a lot of sense. Why he’s blocked. I kind of started watching him cause my little cousin was watching him who was very much into Percy Jackson at the time and I was going through some of mason stuff and some of it is really sexual friendly. Reminder Percy I think it was still a MINOR at this time also, most of his kids are pretty young. I would say. Because when you search up Percy Jackson, he’s the first person to show up.

I’ve been avoiding Mason’s content for a while simply because it really just felt he couldn’t take any criticism for PJO or anything Uncle Rick wrote. And I totally get it, I don’t want to hear constant negativity either, but the way he went about trying to come up to reasons as to why ‘No actually, this is good because XYZ’ just felt really weird. The NSFW-Esq stuff didn’t personally bother me as, a lot of the time, he was a minor himself so I don’t really care what hormonal teens think about other teens lol. No hate to Mason OFC, I just don’t think we’d get along well

I just recently blocked Mason, and the reason is that he’s a sellout. He cannot criticize the show TO SAVE HIS LIFE. You can like it all you want but I see some issues. With the pacing, broken promises of it being a faithful adaptation and then going back and making rewrites. It’s almost like he wants to be in the show but at the same time doesn’t. It’s soooo para social.

I’ve had Mason blocked for years as well. He just comes off as immature and doesn’t seem to do a good job reading the room. He just has a bunch of little red flags that I’ve seen in other creators lead up to bigger ones down the road, so I bailed early.
