@dailymailau: Police in Rockland County, New York, received an unusual call on Saturday to help safely capture an emu on the loose. The feathered fugitive made a break for it at 8.45am from a petting zoo in Ramapo, a town located about 28 miles northwest of New York City on September 12. The Ramapo Police Department was notified and a hot pursuit ensued with officers employing the use of a Skydio drone to track the emu's movements from air while they coordinated efforts on the ground  The emu, who has yet to be christened with a name, was found idly roaming the roadside and basking in the sunshine. A comical video posted by the Town of Ramapo Police Department shows three officers surrounding the bird before using a rope harness to safely detain it. The bird demonstrated surprising agility and dodged the first attempt to catch it, instead continuing with its unauthorized tour of the town.  Cops were forced to continue their pursuit of the animal. It took a third attempt to catch the emu before it finally conceded it was outnumbered.  The emu was then safely escorted back to the petting zoo without incident.
