This is so good, also when adults are talking not to keep interrupting. Where they need to wait and listen. Also could you please share the enid blyton books that you were referring to?

Longer attention span also comes from a life without devices. We don’t own any form of tablet in our house, & we’re old school. Be bored, like look out the window & play eye spy, colouring & craft. It all takes more involvement from the parent too.

We did this with our then 2 year old. And now at 3 he’s the first to ask us about our days. And will ask my mum on the phone too. Such a good skill for lil ones

yes I’m wanting to get into longer books like that with my 4yo twins. We’ve just started doing 500 piece puzzles and they take about a week but it’s nice for teaching delayed gratification and makes the result way more satisfying as they’ve worked so long at it. X

We have routine at dinner where we ask each other what was their favourite part of their days. My four year old now initiates this ❤️

We do this at the dinner table - I model with questions first and then everyone has a turn. Hoping that they’ll develop a bank of things to ask someone else about!

My just turned 3yr old does this every night. We do the story of her day every night to wind down for sleep, and she also asks “tell me about your day Mummy/Daddy…” it definitely started as a procrastination tactic, but it’s very sweet. And she now also asks us questions at the dinner table etc. it’s cute to see her take an interest in us. She also asks every morning if her baby brother (and in turn me) had a good sleep? Adorable.

I love this so much. I never would have thought to do that (get them to ask me about my day), but this totally makes sense. Starting this tomorow ✍️

On point 1. We started doing ‘highlight and challenge’ every night at dinner and my 3.5yo now intimates the conversation every night and asks us both first 🥺
