@mothershipsg: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is exploring where smaller classes can better support learner-centred teaching approaches and make the greatest difference to teaching and learning. Smaller classes, which have been used for Primary 1 and 2 classes, can allow teachers to better cater to individual learning needs and create more engaging and effective learning environments. Education Minister Desmond Lee said this would be part of a broader redesign of teaching and learning, and would need to be done sustainably as smaller classes could also mean teachers taking on more teaching duties. MOE is also exploring ways to recalibrate teachers' workload, including the possibility of allowing teachers to focus on 2 of these 3 responsibilities beyond classroom teaching: form teachership, CCAs, and committee work. These measures are part of 2 shifts MOE will make: reimagining learning and redesigning classrooms. The measures will be piloted in 6 schools in from January 2027.
