I watched my brother go through psychosis before he took his own life. Most people cannot fathom what that even looks like, watching someone you know not be in their right mind is terrifying and a very hopeless feeling. He was driving, paying bills, and behaved semi normally in public on his own. He was fully delusional and even drove to CIA headquarters in langley from florida to warn them of his delusions. People do not understand how people can behave under this kind of mental break and many more people don't have the empathy it takes to sit back and withhold their own personal biases. She was failed many many times as many women and men are. There isn't enough help or advocacy for mental health, they throw medication at you and shove you out the door. People are really really struggling but who cares when we all have our own struggles, including the doctors, police, lawyers. It's very bleak.

My issue with this case is the previous similar case of Latarsha Sanders, ruling by the same judge in the same court. Very very very different outcomes.

Literally this. I’m so fearful of childbirth because of this reason (I’ve struggled with my mental health all my life). All I want people to take away is that women deserve much more attention and care after giving birth. In a way, forcing this situation into a black and white narrative proves how much people don’t care about children in general.

Also ppl with psychosis are capable of appearing “normal” on the outside at times. I recently read on a case in which a man stabbed his mother in psychosis, but when he called 911, he was crystal clear. He had a history of amputating parts of his body in these psychotic states, but on the outside he appeared well put together. He was sentenced to life in prison because of that fact.
