INJUSTICE FOR ONE IS INJUSTICE FOR ALL 🇳🇬 We discovered what appears to be an illegal gold mining operation in Northern Nigeria, where individuals are reportedly extracting valuable mineral resources outside the proper legal framework. But the question Nigerians must ask is: Why should the rules appear different when it comes to natural resources in different parts of the country? If gold and other solid minerals in the North can be mined by individuals or local operators, why are the oil and gas resources in the Niger Delta and other resource-producing communities treated strictly as the property of the Federal Government? This is not about North versus South. It is about fairness, equality and justice. Nigeria belongs to all of us. If the law governing natural resources is the same across the federation, then it should be applied equally and transparently in every region. We cannot continue with a system where one region feels its resources are controlled by the Federal Government while similar resources elsewhere appear to be exploited with less scrutiny. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
