Centred on the theme of “Reunion”, this 11-day celebration brings together global cultures and local traditions in a dazzling feast of light, art and heritage. Highlights to look out for: 🌍 World Lantern Boulevard: Take a journey around the world through nearly 3,000 lanterns from 20 countries and regions. From Korea’s Jinju silk lanterns and Brazil’s multicoloured patchwork lanterns to Polish lanterns featuring traditional folk paper-cutting techniques, every step reveals a new cultural tradition. 🏮 Nanjing Qinhuai Lanterns: Recognised as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, these four giant lantern installations were created by master artisans from Nanjing using centuries-old techniques of frame-making, mounting, painting and paper-cutting. Highlights include the eight-metre-tall “Shadowlight”, inspired by Hong Kong’s iconic banyan trees; 🐟 “Lotus Fish”, featuring giant lotus leaves and lively carp; and 🌕“Moonlit Lotus” and “Dragon Gate”, symbolising good fortune and reunion under the moon. Beyond the International Lantern Spectacular, don’t miss the century-old Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance from 24 to 26 September, along with citywide shopping and dining offers!
