Should we be knsulting Sydney? No. Is she entirely responsible for the ad? No. But is she responsible for how she presents herself as a woman in mainstream media? Absolutely. It’s not necessarily fair because we don’t expect the same of men but it is a fact, unfortunately, women have to be that much more careful when it comes to what they do and how they present themselves particularly in the current political climate where people keep stripping away womens rights (it started with abortion care but that wont be the end because it never is). I do not understand how a woman like Sydney who has openely complained about being sexualised thought that taking part in this ad campaign was a good idea, it does not make sense and it makes it harder (whether she intended it or not) for other women to be taken seriously when it comes to taking part in sports in any way including giving an opinion on them. It is slipping back to the time of pin up girls - and yeah ok sex sells but why is it always women who have to take the hardest hit for it?

oopsiedoopsieeeeeeeeee :
I think why this ad angers me that way is, that Sydney Sweeney could always decline being a part of these over sexualized ads. She is a rich woman, she can choose who she’s advertising and how she’s advertising. Yet we all know that “Sex Sells” and that’s the main issue. It’s not about Sydney Sweeney directly, it’s about how she as a medium is used and how she is letting herself getting used by men, who know that this will cause an outrage.
