1) only if you are making enough Net income to put yourself on payroll, and pay employer portion of payroll taxes, leaving the rest as passthrough income 2) your company pays you to rent your office (14 days per year) and you have to have a contract with your business plus file a Sched E for rental income 3) you can only hire your kids “on payroll” if they are actually doing work for the company-come on now tell the whole story

number 2 And 5 are dumb advice. 90% of people who rent their house to their business do not have an ordinary and necessary reason to rent it. redundant businesses that only exist to avoid taxes also never survive audit.

This is the kind of shit my clients see coming in my office “I saw it on TikTok” Gladly tell them there’s many more steps. They are shocked with the S corp, extra payroll processing fees, separate S corp tax return, and much more.

Don’t have to own your home the IRS code does not require you own your home. It does say the word apartment and people don’t normally own an apartment you can, however, have your landlord put in writing that they will allow you to sublet. And if they won’t allow to sublet at least ask if they will just put in an addendum or some kind of wording says they can sublet you and specify the company name
