On September 8, 2026, investigators located the Nissan Altima abandoned in Monterey County. Authorities have warned that Perez may be attempting to travel with Diana by bus toward Mexico. ⚠️ If you see either Diana or Perez, DO NOT APPROACH THEM. Call 911 immediately. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be important to investigators. 📅 BACKGROUND & TIMELINE August 1, 2026: A deceased newborn baby girl, later named “Baby Angelita” by investigators, was found abandoned along a rural road in Moss Landing, California. An autopsy determined that the infant died from traumatic injuries. DNA and forensic testing determined that 14-year-old Diana was the mother and that her biological father, Sergio Galvez Perez, was the father of the child. August 4, 2026: Surveillance footage captured Perez and Diana together at approximately 2:00 a.m. in Salinas. This remains the last verified sighting of Diana. August 31, 2026: Arrest warrants were issued. Diana's mother, 36-year-old Ofelia Garcia Ortega, was arrested and charged with child endangerment and later posted bail. Perez remains at large. September 6, 2026: The California Highway Patrol (CHP) activated the regional AMBER Alert after investigators recovered video evidence that provided a specific vehicle description. September 8, 2026: The white Nissan Altima associated with the case was found abandoned in Monterey County. September 10, 2026: Following the discovery of the abandoned vehicle, the AMBER Alert was expanded southward across California, including San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties. 💔 Diana is only 14 years old and is considered a victim.
