Building a villa in Zanzibar sounded romantic when I dreamed about it. Palm trees, ocean air, slow mornings, sunset dinners. What nobody really tells you is how much strength, patience, and teamwork it actually takes to build something from the ground up — especially in a place where everything works differently than what you’re used to. This 1.5minute video captures only a tiny fraction of the journey we’ve been living for months. Behind every wall, every tile, every bucket of concrete, there were long days under the African sun, misunderstandings, delays, cultural differences, unexpected problems, and moments where we honestly didn’t know if we could finish it. Working with local construction crews taught us more than we ever expected. Different languages, different standards, different ways of communicating — sometimes frustrating, sometimes beautiful, always a lesson. We learned that building here is not about controlling every detail. It’s about adapting, respecting the local rhythm. There were days with no materials arriving. Days when plans changed completely overnight. Days when we argued from exhaustion. Days when we questioned why we even started this project. But there were also moments we’ll never forget — local workers singing while building our walls, celebrating small milestones together, and realizing we were slowly turning an empty piece of land into something real This villa became more than just a building. It became proof of how strong we are together. It tested our relationship, our patience, our communication, and our ability to trust each other even in chaos. And somehow, through all the stress, dust, heat, and challenges, we built not only a home — but memories that will stay with us forever. And none of this would have been possible without the endless love, support, and encouragement from our family — thank you for believing in us every step of the way 🤍 #zanzibar #travel #villa #Home #villa
