okay i did research on the va thing. so jacob takanashi worked with anime matsuri on a dubbing project, which also had vic mignona as a lead. mignona was a staple in dubbing until being blacklisted in 2019 for being a pdf creep. basically, takanashi is guilty by association, and as far as i know he didn't say anything directly aside from telling people not to send d34th threats to his fellow va peers. apart from this, he was accused of scabbing (i.e working during a union strike) because he replaces kinich's va, john patneaude. patneaude was part of the sag-aftra strike during natlan arc, where kinich played a big part of. notably, takanashi is based in japan, while hyo's dubbing group for english is in california (i believe so). takanashi isn't on the sag-aftra union, and he likely didn't even know about the strike. also, big companies like hyo don't outwardly advertise they're looking for a va for a character, usually giving a generic idea of the role before it's eventually revealed to be hyo OR reaching out directly to a va for a role. that's takanashi's entire thing. ari thrash, vesna's va, was playing genshin on a stream and going through the natlan arc. when kinich came in, she said she was allergic to his voice; any time he would speak, she would gag or cough or fake sneeze over his lines. a lot of people considered this childish behavior, and some pointed out it clashed with her social media bio which talked about her liking to spread positivity. the stream has since been deleted by thrash, and i don't believe she's said anything after that. i dont necessarily agree with her actions, but i don't think it warrants a recast. everybody needs to put food on their plate and pay the bills; the va's just need pr in my opinion. anybody can be anything if you dig deep enough, and each fans have different lived experiences that factor in them "choosing a side" in this entire situation
