Before they came up with the tube-in-tube design stand-up ACs, they only had one exhaust tube, and they brought in air from inside the room to cool down the unit and exhaust the hot air out through the single tube. You only have one tube that's an exhaust. You can still just let the other one be free to the room. Sure, you're pumping air outside. But you only need the one tube after all.
