@nbcchicago: A Chicago Public Schools' bus aide has been charged after a 12-year-old boy found a gun left on a school bus and fired it, the district said in a statement. Steven Dixon Jr., 22, is facing one felony count of possession of a firearm near a school, three misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and one misdemeanor count of reckless conduct after police say he left a bag with a gun inside unattended on a school bus. Officials say a 12-year-old boy found the bag, took out the gun and fired a round, striking a bus window. The shot rang out around 2:25 p.m. on Monday outside Minnie Miñoso Academy along South Wallace Street near West 35th Street. After the shot was fired, Dixon allegedly took the gun and fled the scene, police said.
