In hotels we call it a "walk" and its almost always due to overlooking. What THE LAW says is that you have to refund them and pay for their first night at the new accommodation. Now that I think about it, is Airbnb not bound by Innkeepers Laws?

I had an air bnb booked for my 21st down the shore and a few days before my birthday they canceled on us for the sole reason of my birthday fell on Labor Day weekend and they wanted to use their house for the holiday. We booked months in advance too. They fully refunded us, but it was such a bummer.

Lots of rental properties canceling last min here in TN as properties are selling. Such big turnover with rental cabins here :/

We had an AirBnB host cancel the day b4 we were to arrive because we couldn’t tell her EXACTLY when we would arrive. We told her between 5 & 6 & she was like “naw that’s not good enough! I need to know exactly when you’ll be here!” We called AirBnB & they refunded us AND booked us into a new place for 100% free. I hope they removed her listing but I never checked.

My air bnb canceled on me 24 hours before my arrival in Tennessee. I was on a road trip and was in Louisiana with 3 kids, I’m from Michigan. We got on the road air bnb platform was no help, offered a horse ranch, not close to our activities, we started in a condo…walking distance to everything. We did find another condo, but the tv fell off the wall, the paint wasn’t completed and the oven wasn’t usable. I planned to cook had my groceries already delivered. The reason they gave was they over booked.

last month my sister-in-law had booked the house for her family of 15 in North Idaho area 3 days before they were supposed to get there the host canceled said due to smoke and fire danger their house is in town nothing to do with close to the fires or smoke I hold there was a bunch of people displaced and they saw an opportunity to charge a lot more for people that needed housing because of the fires

I had someone cancel on me because they sold the property… it shouldn’t be able to be listed on Airbnb if it’s listed for sale.

we were moving to parks and we rented an Airbnb for 6 months and the host canceled while we were on our way there and we ended up having to book a roach infested motel because of it

I know for Coachella Airbnb’s were canceling day before to rent their place out 10 times the amount just to make more money and then strand the people who originally booked it

i had a host book a rental on both airbnb and vrbo. drove the 12 hours just for the host to message me an hour before we arrived that he double booked that weekend and the other guests had already arrived. he refunded me but i had already spent a lot (we were halfway through the trip, stayed somewhere else for the first half) so i had like $120 bucks to book a shitty rv in the middle of nowhere with no heat in march in northern michigan 😭

I had an Airbnb cancel on me when I asked for check in after a 12 hour drive for my grandmother’s funeral because they sold the house before I even booked it, and I booked it months in advance and exchanged messages with them frequently 🙃 didn’t think it was important to tell me, took my money and said it would be days before I got a refund. I couldn’t find another place in my budget as it was a small small town with the next town being 45 minutes away. Slept in my car for that week 🥲 first and last Airbnb.

Yeah.. So I worked at a resort and it was like long-term rentals in huge cabins and we had to cancel on someone one time that I worked there in five years because there was bats in the lodge but we did end up discounting any cabin they wanted 🫠
