My dad was EXACTLY like her. “Tough love”. And I did figure it out. I did learn to stand on my own two feet. And you know what I also have? MOUNTAINS of anxiety and no relationship with either of my parents. Kids can learn without life being hard and I hope I can always be a soft place to land for my own kids. We can navigate anything together.

It’s her tone! Her daughter asks about a phone call. She says I’m not gonna do it for her. Why don’t you give her suggestions on what to say in the phone? What’s wrong with that?

Someone said “thank you for being a real parent and not a gentle parent!” And that shit pmo. Talking shit about your own kid on a public platform and refusing to guide them and prepare them for the real world (the actual job of a parent) is not “real” parenting. She’s refusing to help and teach her daughter because she doesn’t agree with her decision.

Her entire platform is basically her complaining about her husband and kids. Now, I’m a mom to teenagers, I get needing to vent once in a while because they can absolutely be a pain, but this woman has over 600k followers! She speaks with SUCH disdain, and people keep defending it as sarcasm when it absolutely isn’t. Everything about her comes off like a bully and it’s no wonder her oldest barely talks to her. And now her daughter is eager to get out too.

She comes off as very condescending. Adults ask for help and don’t know everything. It’s okay to not know everything. The mother seems resentful

You're missing the whole point of her account. I've watched her for years. She's funny and is making fun of the crazy things teenagers do.

As soon as her daughter expressed interest in a different path.. the mom deliberately withdrew her understanding and guidance. This is the type of behavior that taught me leaving the house asap was the right choice.. and eventually going NC

I have and 18 and 20 year old. If I got on any social media and described how ridiculous they were, they would never share anything with me.

As a parent of 4 adult children, ranging in age from 34-19. The way she is handling this situation tells me the mother, whether she recognizes it or not, does not want her child to grow up and become independent. I don’t think she is ready for the loss of control of her child, and for some reason she needs that. That is why she is treating her child in such a demeaning way. I think her daughter wants to leave because of her mother’s parenting style and relationship. I was not friends with my children. I am friends with them as adults and they know they can come to me for/with anything.

I commented on another video of hers where she was being horribly unreasonable with her daughter regarding relaying plans and schedules. The comment section was wild, and the number one reply to my comment was "you obviously don't have kids". My kids are literally exactly the same ages as her kids, and mine would never talk to me the way hers do, because I never talk to my kids the way she does hers.

My kids are 30, 22, & 19. I always say “Ok, tell me your plan so I can help you tweak it if you want.” You NEVER STOP BEING A PARENT

She said “figure it out” not “let’s figure it out” and that was the difference for me. The first says you’re on your own, the latter says I’m here for you, we can do this together or I can support you. The point is to raise self sufficient children and that takes time and nurturing, failures will come but parents shouldn’t set them up for failure

She definitely wants to punish her daughter for not wanting to follow the plan that SHE set out for her daughter. She’s rooting for her to fail at becoming independent, which is insane.

As the daughter of an “I told you so” mom, of an “oh you think you can do THAT” mom …. That video was triggering. There’s no secret why that girl wants the hell out of there as fast as possible.

She wants her to be able to spread her wings and fly away from the nest, but I’d rather my child confidently leave the nest knowing she doesn’t have to have it all figured out and then I’m going tomorrow be there to support her along the way

I dunno, I’m 46 and I still go to my mom for help and guidance bc I’ve never been 46 before and she has. Sometimes her answer is “you’re and adult, you need to figure out how you want to handle this” but it’s usually followed up with “but if it was me, here’s how I would handle it”
