@badboyofscience: Elon Musk believes the universe is made of an integer number of cubes with side the Planck length. This is wrong from many, many angles. . #elonmusk #physics #spacetime #gravity #quantumphysics . Linktree with link to YT channel with full discussion in bio
It’s true in all reference frames, we just won’t agree on what is contained in each cube

In either case it’s countable, no?

In relativity, the metric by which you’re measuring the “cube” has the potential to change, so it’s no longer a cube at that point. Silly Elon.

I agree about the frame of reference but physics whole thing has been trying to model the universe in an observer-independent manner and it’s why people like musk say shit like this. I don’t think it’s possible but any global claim about laws of physics, total information, entropy of the universe presupposes a global state space that contains a view from outside the universe that can objectively account for the entire universe. This is the first time I hear people openly admitting frames of reference. I get that GR and SR are all about reference frames but all quantum gravity approaches model the universe as a set with predefined, definite, classifiable, physical objects inside it.

Universe is definitely not favorable to integers, they only exist for modeling purposes & not in reality. Bigbrains gotta remember that the Reals are a subset of the complex numbers, any fundamental and applied truth about the nature of reality will presumably be expressed through really convoluted operations within the non-real complex numbers
