When my husband and I first started dating, he introduced me to a woman he'd been friends with since college. She ended up being a bridesmaid in my wedding. We talk daily. I'm so glad my husband was friends with her bc it meant I was able to make a new, hopefully lifelong, friend.

It’s a red flag for sure…but on who? Him or her? If he “can’t have female friends” BECAUSE of her, it’s a red flag on her. If he can’t be platonic to other women, that’s a red flag on him. If she can’t trust him around other women that could be a red flag on either or both depending on why that trust isn’t there. If it’s because of something he’s done, sure, flag on him. If it’s because she’s paranoid due to other men, that’s a flag on her.

my ex had more female than male friends (which was shocking being he was a marine), he also would get defensive when i would look over at his phone when the screen lighted up and he saw no issue pratically drooling for other women in front of me

Idk my husband has stuck with his same friend group from high school and there aren’t any girls in it 😭 & he works independently at work so he doesn’t rlly make friends. I don’t think that’s a red flag lol

My ex boyfriend had several female friends. Most of them were lesbians, but not all of them. They were all really lovely! And he is a pretty well adjusted and good person, I’d give him a high rating if we had a way to rate our exes. I think it’s weird to want someone to effectively never talk to people of the opposite gender

I have this theory watching people I grew up with in the Bible belt about this situation. a lot of heteros are taught its wrong to have opposite sex friends in a relationship. so you marry your love, and then 15 years down the road you meet an opposite sex person at work. theyre cool and maybe even a bit attractive. suddenly you're in a crisis because why am I attracted to them?! I'm married? this must MEAN something. clearly I am meant to be with them and not my loving partner of 15 years. WRONG. you never learned the difference between romantic and platonic attraction, or what it feels like to just like having someone around in a friendship, so it gets sexualized. they leave their partner and start dating the new person, and suddenly they're like "omg this is just a normal person. I want my old person back I made a mistake." I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN SO MANY TIMES

I had almost all female friends before I married my wife, then slowly she had me cut each off one by one. Now she's leaving, and I get to try to rebuild some bridges, or start all over 🤷
