If you ask the subject if it's ok (after taking to photo), and they ask for a copy of the finished product along with a release document giving them permission to use it for free, but not to resell it, would you choose to delete the file (or destroy film negative), or would you choose to provide a post-processed copy?

Yes, about photographing from the street, but houses are places people expect privacy and that can certainly be illegal. But, as you said, shops and restaurants are perfectly legal.

One of the most nerve wracking (but rewarding) days of my college photo classes was when our professor paired us up and sent us out in the city to do exactly this. With the expectation that we were to approach strangers and ask to shoot their portraits. It actually turned out to be a really great experience, but it was terrifying at 19 years old with a little film camera 😬

My favorite picture I ever took. Wanted a shot of the turrets at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This captured the feeling of the entire place more than inside the masjid itself.

Dignity! that's the important part IMO. The issue I have with true crime is that everyone deserves dignity in death. The issue I have with people constantly filming with glasses is that people deserve dignity in their daily lives. I feel like many have lost the boundary between real lives and public consumption.
