@livinglchaim: HE’S FREE! Thank You Hashem!! After 11 years in an Iraqi prison and a death sentence hanging over his head, Binyamin Chasin is finally free. The Jewish man had been imprisoned in Iraqi Kurdistan since 2015, after a violent encounter with a taxi driver who reportedly overheard him speaking Hebrew. According to accounts surrounding the case, the driver threatened to turn him over to ISIS. A struggle followed, the driver was wounded and later died, and Binyamin was arrested. In 2020, a Kurdish court sentenced him to death by hanging. For years, askanim, rabbanim and advocates worked behind the scenes to save his life. More than 6,000 people ultimately helped raise $250,000 for a sulcha, a reconciliation agreement with the deceased man’s family that allowed his death sentence to be annulled. That happened in November 2025. But Binyamin remained behind bars. Now, after more than a decade in captivity, Binyamin Chasin has finally walked out of prison a free man. For 11 years, his family waited and an international Jewish effort fought to bring him home. Now he can finally step outside, see the sky and feel the sunlight as a free man. ברוך מתיר אסורים.
