Renew Your Covenant We read in the Book of Allah, Exalted is He: “Allah will never grant the disbelievers a way to prevail over the believers.” If there is therefore a way for them to prevail over us, then we are not truly believers. So be a believer, realize the truth of faith, and take pride in Allah, Exalted is He. Then the enemy will not be able to gain power over you. The enemy’s dominance is over the one whose faith has been lost. Therefore, my son, we must renew the covenant between ourselves and Allah. Let us renew the covenant of repentance, the covenant of turning toward Allah, and the covenant of remembering Allah. Reflect upon yourself: Why have you suffered humiliation in this worldly life? Because you have abandoned the remembrance of Allah. Allah, Exalted is He, commands you to remember Him in nearly three hundred verses. And yet you do not remember Allah?! On the battlefield, swords are clashing above people’s heads, and spears are piercing the chests and coming out through the backs. It is an intense battle. Yet even then, Allah commanded them to remember Him abundantly: “O you who believe! When you meet a hostile force, stand firm and remember Allah much.” Even in the midst of battle, you must not abandon the remembrance of Allah. What, then, about when you are in your own home or in the mosque, and yet you still do not remember Allah?
