@momsoflittlewarriors: I’m going to keep following every lead I’m given. After that? I’m looking into our state representatives, lawmakers, and whoever else I need to contact. I’m taking this as far as I possibly can. I don’t know how much longer I can handle this emotional roller coaster, but something in my heart keeps telling me that I need to stand up—not only for Luci, but for every child with disabilities and every parent who is exhausted from fighting the same battles. Someone please explain to me why crossing a state line just miles away into Pennsylvania or Delaware can mean different services and opportunities. Why should a family ever feel like they have to MOVE to another state just to give their child a fighting chance? Why are Maryland families struggling to find appropriate childcare for children with complex medical needs? Why are parents being forced to choose between working and caring for their child? Why should children ever risk losing therapies that are helping them gain independence because their parents make too much money, get the wrong insurance, or can’t navigate an incredibly complicated system? Enough. If you want to stay quiet about your family’s struggles, I completely understand. This fight is exhausting, and not everyone has the energy to make their private struggles public. But I’m done being quiet about mine. Children shouldn’t have to lose services that are helping them thrive. Parents shouldn’t have to financially destroy themselves trying to give their child opportunities. Families shouldn’t feel like they have to uproot their entire lives and move across a state line just to access help. So tag whoever needs to see this. Share it. Send it to your representatives. Send them my information. I will talk. I will tell our story. I will advocate. I will keep asking questions. And I will keep pushing until somebody listens. Maybe one mom making noise doesn’t change anything. But maybe one mom becomes ten. Ten becomes a hundred. And eventually, someone has to listen. I feel it too strongly in my heart to stop now. Luci gave me a reason to find my voice, and I’m done accepting “no” without asking WHY. This isn’t just about Luci anymore. It’s about every Maryland child and family fighting for the services, therapies, childcare, and support they need. 🩷
