@therapyforblackgirls: If you're a chronic overachiever, this episode is for you. 🎙️ In Session 481 of the Therapy for Black Girls podcast, Dr. Joy asks the question that might help chronic overachievers feel worthy, and who better to help us say the quiet part out loud than the author of 'Worth: The New Science of Self-Esteem and Secure Attachment,' Dr. Marisa G. Franco. Hyperachieving comes from trying not to feel, and sometimes that looks like believing you're not worthy if you're not successful, or that you won't be safe if you're not successful, so keeping busy becomes a way of avoiding what's sitting underneath it all. Her advice: turn toward the feeling instead of past it. Let yourself feel scared of failure, notice what shows up in your body, and stay with it. The longer you sit with it and let these emotions become your friend, they can't hijack you. Session 481 with Dr. Marisa G. Franco is out now.
