"And you're going to ignore it," Bee cut in with an unyielding glare. "Don't tell anything to whoever this Oom Eisaya is. Not a single word. She doesn't exist to this family anymore." Selene swallowed hard, nodding slowly. "Okay, call me if anything happens." Once Selene closed the apartment door behind her, the heavy silence settled between Bee and Bam once more. Bee stood in front of her, leaning against the glass table, crossing her arms as she looked down at her friend. "So what now? Are you going to hide in this apartment?" Bam stood up, pulling her bandaged hands back, stepping away into the darkness of the room with cold, calculating composure. "Back to my work, as usual," Bam said, her tone icy, sharp, and completely detached. "And as far as Oom Eisaya is concerned, she no longer exists to me." Bee stared at her for a long moment, seeing right through the frozen barrier Bam was trying so desperately to build. Without another word, Bee walked over, guided Bam toward the master bed, and gently forced her to lie down. Bee pulled the heavy down duvet over Bam's cold shoulders, tucking her in sleep securely against the chill of the room. She stroked Bam's dark hair away from her bandaged temple, leaning down close. "Sleep and rest, Bam," Bee whispered softly, her hand lingering gently on Bam's forehead, her voice breaking into a tender warmth. "You don't have to be strong right now. I'm right here, and you are safe with me. Let me take care of you tonight." At those soft, unconditional words of comfort, the ice around Bam's heart completely shattered.
