Yes, I think it’s because they are not 100% bonded yet that’s why Shadow is still a bit territorial to his food. Just like the first beaky kisses from Kaydee, he was very annoyed but now he’s slowly liking it.

Jackie always hunted her own food, Shadow brought her food when she was heavy with eggs and she was nesting and when the babies were born Jackie would be warning Shadow not to eat it . But she didn’t hunt as much with the last babies cause she was getting sick ,
