tell me about it. my parents were somehow able to buy a house, put 3 kids through private school from k to 12 and got to Mexico 2 times a year. both worked in a factory. i ate cereal for dinner last night.

My mother bought her home as a fast food manger and my dad was a warehouse employee. The same jobs that particular generation looks down on now.

My grandpa was a mechanic at a u-haul and made enough to buy a single wide outside of town as a second home. My wife and I make 6x what he did and it’s still not “single wide” money

Bought my house from the original owner. He stated that he originally bought it for 16k, remortgaged it twice and paid it off no problem

Yeah, but the difference is all the other things we spend money on. My home growing up had 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, we had 7 people living there. Now, we want double vanities, 3-4 bedrooms and 4 baths. They didn't have a cell phone bill, internet bill, TV subscriptions, multiple vehicles. My mom never went to get her hair dyed, she never got her nails done, we never had take out, my dad didn't spend money at a bar or have a boys weekend, we had 1 car, and we drank water from the faucet. Obviously, inflation is horrible right now, but our parents went without alot things to be home owners.
