@timothy_reeder: I'm in love with this one. 520 North 38th Street is one of my favorite houses in Omaha, and once you see the details, you'll understand why. This home has been through it. Over the years it lost its original light fixtures, even its newel post. But the current owners have done something really special, bringing back character and style with thoughtful new pieces, like that Art Deco Alabaster fixture at the base of the staircase. Absolutely beautiful. Look at the history here. A dinner bell mounted right in the main hall (ring it and the whole house hears you). A built-in pier mirror where guests once checked their appearance before being welcomed in. Rose sconces so delicate they stop you in your tracks. They just don't build them like this anymore. The leaded glass alone, grapes and vines carried through the breakfront and into the dining room, is extraordinary. Add in the push-button light switches, grand pocket doors, a sunroom that's totally off the hook, and a hallway linen closet with double doors and built-in drawers, and you've got a home packed with character at every turn. This is why I do what I do. Homes like this deserve stewards who see what's worth preserving.
