After the UK set out on an ego-driven journey to become an 'AI superpower', we've watched local communities suffer the brunt of the pressure. From 500 operational data centres draining communities of their resources and their homes, to the same surveillance tech used by ICE and the IDF targeting innocent people simply doing their weekly shop in Sainsbury's - the situation is out of control. Big Tech billionaires cannot continue to rapidly advance at the cost of the everyday people. They are a parasite on our democracy, and it is about time that we became a top priority. The answer is clear - we need a moratorium on data centres, and for everyday people to have a voice on AI.
