@deanna_art: I get so many questions about my color saturation technique, so let’s break it down. ❤️ The “peppery” look you see in a lot of my color work comes from the way I build the tattoo. I start with a darker foundation and layer lighter, saturated colors over it, which creates that stippled, painterly effect. It’s similar to the fundamentals of traditional tattooing- building a strong black base and layering color over top, but instead of mag shading, I’m using stippling to create the texture and dimension you see in my work. One of my favorite things about this approach is that the darker foundation is still there underneath as the tattoo ages and the color naturally softens over time. I’m always learning, experimenting, and refining my technique, and that’s part of what keeps tattooing exciting for me.
