🩷ADOPTED🩷 Day 29: Oinky The other day, I went to the shelter looking for a dog to feature. I didn’t have anyone specific in mind. I was just waiting for one to catch my attention. That dog ended up being Bonnet (who was adopted today)… But there was one other dog I couldn’t stop thinking about. Her name was Oinky. I didn’t take her out that day, but something about her stayed with me. Her unique face. The way she just quietly watched the world around her. And how badly I wanted to know who she really was. Today, I found out she was on the urgent list, so I knew I had to go back and tell her story. At first, Oinky was shy and kept her distance. But after a few minutes, she decided I was okay. She started walking over for pets, gently wedging herself between my legs, and every time I told her what a pretty girl she was, she’s break into the happiest little roomies. It was like watching her forget to be scared for just a moment. The volunteers told me that when they first started working with her, she was so scared that they had to carry her outside. Now she walks out on her own. Those little victories deserve to become a lifetime of bigger ones. Oinky is a year old, weighs just 30 pounds, and she needs an adopter, foster, or rescue by Saturday, August 8th to save her life. She loves other dogs, and I think she could really benefit from other confident canine companion to show her that life isn’t all that scary. Oinky doesn’t need someone to save her from who she is.
