@kinacptsdtherapist: I have a webinar on emotional neglect coming up in January that’s open to everyone! You can find tickets on my website kinawolfensteintraining.com
I become unresponsive, everything processes slow but happens fast. Every smile becomes menacing. I misread what is happening. I answer things robotic like to hide when i am slipping away. Then i feel like i start drowning in all these negative voices and i have to hide and cry before something bad happens. Or i so something out of reaction.

I have something similar where in those very intense emotional moments I have an intense internal "itch" to be small. like it almost becomes painful, that I cannot physically shrink myself? it's a very weird feeling for sure. just thought it was interesting so I wanted to share.

it’s kind of like when you can feel yourself fainting (losing hearing, eyesight, feeling sick) as the event progresses. i can feel myself going in and out of the disassociation 😳

Is it possible for them to happen more regularly after having a huge emotional blowout with a parent?... I've noticed after this huge event this week that when my partner is joking around with me like we usually do, I suddenly feel myself shutting down, the jokes suddenly feel accusatory, like I've done something wrong even when I know I haven't. He isn't abusive we both just like to act dramatic about stupid stuff and it's never bothered me before until the issue with my dad happened. It feels like I'm being triggered all the time and I get more upset bcos he doesn't notice which makes me feel more invisible (I kno I need to communicate this to him)... I feel like I'm losing it a little.

i recently realized i feel this when i’m going through grief/loss. i think it triggers flashbacks of experiencing grief and loss when i was a little kid and being left alone in my room to process it on my own. i literally feel like a ghost floating through the world for days. i get so emotionally overwhelmed that i turn completely numb, nothing feels real and i feel like i don’t exist.

I don't think this is completely accurate. I think you can be very angry that you were neglected as a child. Even if you are in a bad state, as in feeling anhedonic or maybe even dissociated. When I get flashbacks, both emotional and literal, I do have a variety of reactions. Sometimes it is shutting down, but sometimes it is very extreme anger

Mine is disassociating. Like I’m in the room with everyone but feel like an invisible spectator even when I speak.

that’s what it feels like. when someone triggers something that i experienced in my childhood i have to FIGHT to not catastrophize. Because my instincts are to act like a ghost and to hide. in childhood it was easier to hide. but hiding causes me to not see others when they need to be seen

I have felt like a ghost my entire life. always apart from everything and never together and I kind of just accept that state of being as my natural mode of operation like this perpetual out of body experience
