After being discovered by Lewis Capaldi, Aaron went on to support major artists and was set to join Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour in North America. But this week, Aaron made the decision to withdraw from the remaining dates following Macklemore’s removal from the tour after his outspoken support for Palestine. In a powerful statement, Aaron said: “As Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation.” He went on to say that he could not stand by while he believed powerful figures were being used to silence voices speaking out for Palestinians, adding that he needed to remain true to himself and to the generations before him who resisted colonisation and fought for Irish freedom. “I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal.” Aaron’s decision comes despite his close relationship with Ed Sheeran, who he described as a friend who had changed his life. He acknowledged that he did not take the decision lightly, but said he needed to stay true to his principles.
