it also means even on non essential things like clothing (obvs to an extent), getting hair done, drinking /eating out, etc, if people have less money to do these things then people lose jobs in these sectors. its a knock on effect

it literally needs to stop. it's so stupid cause money is made up concept with everything else that humans created to make life harder. I'm 32 and qualified professional self employed and somehow more skint than when I lived at home on a crappy part time job at like 21.

yep and the government just needs more money in the banks that they can borrow to pay for welfare. So working people end up paying more on mortgage repayments and loans etc. When they could just tax oil & food companies making record profits
