Houth! officials described the allegation as a “lie” and said Yemen has no plan to target Makkah or other Islamic holy sites. The statement came after Saudi-led coalition forces said they intercepted and dest_royed a Houth! drone south of Makkah before it entered the holy city’s prohibited airspace. Houth! political bureau member Hazem al-Assad called the Saudi account a “worn-out lie” and rejected the accusation of t@rgeting Makkah. Saudi authorities, however, maintain that the drone was launched by the Houth!s and have described the security of Makkah and the Two Holy Mosques as a “red line.” The two sides have therefore presented conflicting accounts of the incident, and the attribution of the drone’s intended t@rget remains disputed.
