@rowancheung: World Labs has unveiled Atlas, a new AI “world model” designed to generate, reconstruct and simulate 3D environments from text, images and video. Unlike conventional video generators, Atlas accepts precise camera positions, allowing users to create controlled shots and videos up to one minute long at 1440p. The system can also build explorable 3D scenes from a small number of photographs, filling unseen areas with plausible details. More images reduce how much the model has to guess. World Labs says Atlas outperformed specialized models in camera control and sparse-view 3D reconstruction, though the benchmarks were presented by the company. Potential applications include virtual production, game design, visual effects and robotics, where reconstructed spaces could become realistic environments for training and testing machines.
