JoinerK1962 :
In October 1582, ten days were skipped when Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar. October 4, 1582, was followed immediately by Friday, October 15, 1582.

Semir.S :
The Gregorian calendar is more accurate than the Julian calendar. The Julian calendar has a small error because it calculates a year as 365.25 days, while the actual solar year is about 365.2422 days. Over many centuries, this difference accumulated, so in 1582, 10 calendar dates were skipped: October 4 was followed by October 15. The Gregorian calendar corrects this error much more accurately.

So, the old Julian calendar had gotten out of sync with the solar year—over centuries, spring events like the equinox were drifting earlier. Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar to fix this drift, so they cut out those 10 days to realign the dates with the seasons. It was all about getting the calendar and the Earth’s rhythms back in harmony! 🌍✨

It was a change in calendars. That’s all. What to really have your mind blown? There is a theory that 300 years were skipped from 610 to 909 or something around that time.
